![]() The new M-Audio Hammer 88 Pro looks to be an good choice for not too much money ($799), but exactly which keybed it uses is not listed anywhere I could find. Yes, fast runs are more difficult at first, but you just need practice and to build up the hand strength needed. If you are learning piano, then you should get a hammer-action controller. ![]() And what are now labeled as "fully-weighted" or "weighted" keybeds should be called "hammer-action". So really, what are now labeled as "semi-weighted" keybeds should simply be called "weighted" or "weighted synth action". ![]() A "semi-weighted" keybed is a synth action, but with weights in the front of the keys to fake the feel of a piano without having to use an (expensive) hammer action. ![]() A "fully-weighted" keybed uses a hammer action like a real piano. "Fully-weighted" (or just "weighted") and "semi-weighted" are somewhat of misnomers. I've also read mixed reviews about the fatar key-bed in the keylab 88 & Komplete kontrol 88. I was thinking a fully weighted one since I'm teaching myself piano, but since I'm not a trained pianist, would it be too hard for an amateur to play fast runs on a fully weighted? I know you can edit velocity in a daw.but I'm also finding its simplicity (which at first drew me to it) a bit lacking and I would like a newer midi keyboard with faders and a more secure key-bed if there is one. But lately, with the more velocity based samples I play.I find that some keys are wearing out faster than others and feel less semi weighted and more synth/loose.Īlso they are a little too easy to press sometimes and it feels like I'm hitting louder notes than I'd like even when I try to play soft. Started off with the akai mpk 225 but quickly realized I needed more keys.ĭid some research on a budget and grabbed the M-Audio keystation 61 because I read it had some of the best semi-weighted keys.Īt first I definitely loved them, they didn't bounce back with the same heaviness as the akai.I could def play faster on it and the keys felt good. I'm not sure I'm in love with either of the two I have yet. What are your favorite midi keyboards with the most sturdy/reactive comfortable feel?
